I have a huge respect for those that can post daily! I am going to be content with a post every couple of months!
Some things have changed in the past two months....good things, no make that great things!
My sister and I have been going at least 5 mornings a week to the gym and working out. It feels amazing! I have not had a soda since the first of the year and have started really focusing on eating healthy. Of course I have had a few hiccups but I have been good about not beating myself up on those days. Everyone needs a cheat day every once in a while! The results have been amazing and even more motivating to keep going. Now I don't check my weight regularly, I'm more going by how I feel and fit of clothes. I have had to buy some new clothes because the others were TOO BIG!!!
I have tried for so many years to lose weight and this time it just feels right. I have learned a few things along the journey so far.
First and most importantly I can't do it without God! I know that He has called me to take care of myself. If I don't do that then how can I take care of others. The biggest difference I have noticed is in the music I listen to when I am working out. I started out listening to 80's rock (who doesn't love 80's rock?), which did work but I finally got some christian music on my ipod and WOW what a difference the choice of music makes. I noticed an extra pep in my step and just more energy and motivation. Some of my favorites workout songs are: "We Live" by Superchick; "Let Go" by Barlow Girl; "Burn for You" by TobyMac; "Who I am Hates Who I've Been" by Relient K.; "Everything you ever wanted" by Hawk Nelson.
Second....I really need the support and encouragement from my husband and kids. My husband has been amazing at keeping me motivated. He and the kids have helped with adjusting schedules, food changes and food experiments! I could not keep it up if it weren't for them.
The third thing I have learned is that I do need an accountability person, my sister! We motivate each other to get up every morning at 5am to go to the gym. We also trade recipes and clothes. I firmly believe if I did not have her going with me I would have stopped going a long time ago. We are on a roll and don't anticipate stopping anytime soon. It feels great!
I encourage you, if you are looking to get healthy to start now! Pray, set up a plan and just do it!
